IMELIO - Internet MEchanisms for quaLity and InterOperability

IMELIO is a two year (Aug. 2000 - Dec. 2002) research project in the area of Internet quality of service issues and Voice over IP numbering and signaling issues. IMELIO is funded by

The project is initiated and led by prof. Raimo Kantola. The project is focused on issues of QoS and interoperability in the development of the future multi-purpose Internet. The project has four major research topics:

  1. Traffic classification studies the use and methods of traffic classification in future IP networks.
  2. Class and constraint based routing studies to understand the feasibility and means of class and constraint based routing used in DiffServ networks.
  3. Interoperable numbering infrastructure studies telephony numbering and addressing infrastucture in IP networks
  4. Telephony signalling over IP studies the use of SIP as a method of signalling in IP networks.
